Programming.
During the initial programming phase, project parameters are defined
in terms of building(s) size, location, orientation, program elements,
interconnectivity, form, aesthetic and design goals. During this
phase, we decide what to build from a universe of possibilities shaped
by project goals as well as site and budgetary constraints.
Programming is important because it provides clear criteria for
evaluating project progress and success. It is not a discreet phase
so much as an ongoing process that telescopes from larger and more
general concerns to smaller and more specific ones.
